Femtolasers (FL) is the premiere manufacturer of compact Ti:sapphire systems generating optical pulses in the 10 fs-range. During the past few years, no other companies have been able to develop and successfully produce ultra-fast lasers with comparable short pulses. The company, founded in 1994, is a spin-off of the research activities of the Vienna Group (based at the Vienna University of Technology), well known in the academic community for their contributions to fs-lasers. Its products find applications in the fields of spectroscopy, microscopy, biology, chemistry, medical diagnostics (laser tomography) and material processing (micro machining). About 20% of the annual turnover is reinvested into R&D. To date, FL has about 36 employees. Together with 11 distributors from Europe, Asia, and the US it is committed to serve with the shortest pulses commercially available.
