JenLab GmbH was founded as High-Tech spin-off company of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 1999 in Jena (Germany) by a biophysicist, a chemist, an engineer, and a professor of medicine.

The JenLab GmbH has facilities in Jena, Neuengönna near Jena, Saarbrücken, and St. Ingbert. The staff consists of currently ten employees, mainly operating in research and development. JenLab is member of the Thuringian clusters BioInstruments, Ophthalmonet, and OptoNet.

JenLab is technology provider in the field of clinical multiphoton tomography for skin cancer detection and in vivo intra-tissue drug screening as well as in the field of femtosecond laser nanoprocessing in Life Sciences.

The portfolio of JenLab includes clinical tomographs, scientific equipment and supplementary products for high-resolution tissue imaging and optical nanotechnologies based on femtosecond lasers for applications in biotechnology, cell biology and medicine.

Role in FUN OCT


The role of JL will be:


-Major contributor to MT/OCT and MT/OCM

-Access to clinical collaborators within dermatology and endoscopy

-Access to clinical diagnostic market

Prof. Karsten König: CEO, biophysicist, C4 professor for mechatronics at the University Saarbrücken, Germany, more than 200 publications in the field of laser nanobiotechnology and laser medicine.
